Project Linus
The mission of the Linus Project is to provide a “security blanket” (like Linus’ of Peanuts fame), for warmth, love, and comfort to children who are seriously ill; or are suffering from abuse, homelessness, or displacement; or have been traumatized in some way and are in need. The aim is to provide washable, colorful, handmade blankets or quilts to children ages 0-18 throughout the US. These colorful blankets or quilts can bring a sense of security to a child when s/he feels most vulnerable.
You can help! If you knit, crochet, or quilt you can use your talent to make blankets or quilts as you have time, or those who prefer are encouraged to help by donating washable, acrylic yarn in bright, child friendly colors. Monetary contributions to help purchase supplies for volunteers who make the blankets and quilts are also welcomed.
Watch for flyers that will include blanket or quilt specifications and other pertinent information about the Linus Blanket Project. This is a long-term opportunity. We will collect teh balnkets as they are made and deliver them every six months or so to the drop-off location nearest us, which is in Aiken. Please consider participating in this worthwhile service project that has a presence in every one of the 50 states!
