Bethel belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Within the greater church there are many synods. Every year the synod assembly gathers for updates on the mission and ministries of our church and for the business of the church governing body. This year we will elect a new bishop of the SC Synod. I invite you to pray for our church as we discern who God is call and pray for that individual as the Spirit nudges them. Pastor Megan Lineberger is one of the chaplains for this year’s assembly.

Bethel is sending two voting members: Sandy Olson and Sally Hiatt. Sarah Cheesman is also attending as a visitor. The assembly is live online via Facebook. Join us for any of all of this exciting event, June 11-13.

Vacation Bible School is coming to Bethel Lutheran Church on July 19-23 from 5:45 until 8:00 PM. A meal will be shared at 5:45 before the opening ceremony. Based on the Winter Olympics, Snowball Mountain Challenge centers around Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. There will be classes for all ages: preschool through adult.

Bethel’s Outreach Team is organizing a very special project - Pomaria’s Summer Story Time for children under five-years-old. Gently used and/or new books appropriate for the age level are needed for this program. Collection boxes will be placed outside the office and in the back of the pulpit side of the nave.

Please share any children’s books you would like to contribute by May 15. All donations are appreciated!

Bethel has a new “Older Adult Ministry” called the Joy Team. It is aimed at fellowship, friendship, and good old-fashioned fun. If you’re near or beyond 55, come on!

The next event will be June 22nd at 12:00 noon when we’ll have a light lunch followed by an entertaining program on “Girls Singing Groups: When Music Was Real Music.” We’ll hear great music from the 40’s to the 70’s and vocal groups from the Andrews & McGuire Sisters to the Super Supremes and everything in-between. Please RSVP to the church office by June 19. No special diets will be provided.
